Playing Golf

Playing golf in the Spanish sun

Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club is set in the hills with views overlooking the sea. Throughout the course, you will see several old watchtowers that are now listed as historic monuments. Los Arqueros or "the archers" is so named because of the medieval lookouts that protected the coast. Should they see any sign of invaders, arrows were sent from tower to tower all the way up to Ronda to warn the Overlords of impending danger.

The 18-hole course was originally designed by Seve Ballasteros, but over the past 4 years, many modifications have been made. Plans are now underway to introduce a further 9 holes, giving players the option of two different courses.

The map below highlights how challenging the Los Arqueros course can be and has something to offer the high, medium and low handicapper as well as good practice for any pro. You must be able to produce your handicap certificate on request - a handicap of 27 or under for men and 35 or under for ladies.

Breathtaking view of the Los Arqueros golf course. The 18-hole course at Los Arqueros is situated ten minutes drive north of Puerto Banus, just off the Ronda road. Designed by the master himself, Seve Ballesteros, you know it's going to be a course to be reckoned with. As you drive towards the splendid clubhouse you will see Los Arqueros in its full glory. Beautifully lush, curvaceous fairways, golden bunkers and immaculate greens invite even the best of golfers to come and take on the challenge.
The 1st hole at Los Arqueros replicates Seve's description of his ideal opening hole, teeing off down hill with nothing but open fairway views. It is a straightforward, confidence building first hole that fools you into thinking the whole course will be this easy. It's not!!!

The 3rd hole is a long uphill par 4 and the first of 6 holes where water comes into play. It takes a good long 250 metre drive to reach the fairway, so make sure you're on form with your driver .

Ladies enjoying the fast accurate greens.

The 6th hole is said to be the hardest hole on the course and is a 510 metre par 5 with a narrow fairway and a water hazard.

The 13th hole has breathtaking views of the glistening blue Mediterranean and could almost be the 7th water hazard on the course.

The 18th hole is a long dogleg right with a blind green so you're tested all the way.

Beer, wine and relaxation at the 19th hole.

The 19th hole and time to relate your golfing triumphs of the day over a nice cold beer or glass of Spanish wine. Savour the fine, cosmopolitan menu whilst looking across the Mediterranean to the north African coast.

The Club House is open daily from 8.00am to 8.00pm *.
